The Depot Hotel Restaurant and Garden

Originally a private home, the Depot Hotel has played an active role in Sonoma’s past as a restaurant and hotel. It is currently located in a historic plumstone building near the Plaza in downtown Sonoma.

Enter through the Fireplace Parlor, comfortably furnished with overstuffed chairs and couches. The soft rose walls, luxurious burgundy upholstery and an Italian tapestry give the feel of an Italian country inn. Glass doors lead out onto a covered terrace encircling the formal garden. The garden is serene and secluded, landscaped with flowers, hedges and a large reflecting pool. A comfortable dining area decorated with antique Italian china is enlarged by a glass-enclosed garden room. Here you can have the benefits of indoor dining while feeling that you’re outdoors. The Depot also offers an additional benefit: the services of Chef Ghilarducci, who received the prestigious national award, Grand Master Chef of America.

Nectar Restaurant and Bar

Executive Chef Rene Jakushak has created a menu using only the freshest products Sonoma County has to offer. Nectar's cuisine is best classified as Creative American with a wine country flare. The menu changes regularly to reflect the most vibrant foods of the season. Nectar is located at the beautiful Hilton Sonoma County / Santa Rosa that serves fine cuisine artfully prepared, and meant to be paired with some of the region's finest Napa and Sonoma County wine.

From the intimate jazz club atmosphere, often with live music, to the menu that includes specialties such as the Chilean Seabass that Pistachio Almond encrusted you're in for an evening of delight as you begin your meal with a fine boutique wine or cocktail such as a Nectar Luxury Martini.

Salads reflect the bounty of the produce grown regionally and include a Baked Brie Salad with Butter Lettuce or Smoked Salmon Salad with Baby Mixed Greens.

Elegant Dining

The next best thing, some might say, to drinking the bounty of the wine country is eating it. In a region best known for its grapes, other produce is just a step away. Fresh fruits and vegetables, however, are only one component of great wine country restaurants.

In the wine country you will find dining in any style, whether it be upscale, casual, or al fresco. The cuisine is just as varied as the atmosphere: amazing seafood, outrageous desserts, four-star dining and celebrity chefs are to be found; Italian fare, Chinese restaurants, Mexican restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and even your garden variety fast food.

If you are interested in finding the perfect dining for your wine country stay, select your region from the list on the left and search the listings of the best wine country restaurants.
